Eco Friendly Belts: Sustainable and Stylish

About the collection

Looking for a natural-looking eco-friendly belt? A cork belt—whether smooth or woven—could be the perfect choice. Our collection is designed for those who want to make a difference by choosing sustainable, cruelty-free accessories.

Handmade using a traditional three-piece construction, each sustainable cork belt is crafted just like a leather belt but without animal products. Our woven cork belts offer a flexible and durable option, made from interwoven cork fibers for a unique texture and lightweight feel.

Each belt has three layers: a PU base, a microfiber lining, and durable cork leather. These materials are bonded and stitched for extra strength and longevity. The woven belts are made entirely by weaving cork into a braided design.

All our cork belts, whether smooth or woven, are handmade in Portugal and available in two sizes.

About cork leather

Cork leather is derived from the bark of the cork oak tree, making it a completely natural and renewable material. Harvesting involves carefully removing the bark, allowing the tree to regenerate and continue absorbing carbon dioxide. This sustainable process ensures the longevity of cork oak forests, making cork leather an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional leather.

Our woven cork belts use the same sustainable material but in an interwoven construction, creating a flexible, lightweight, and stylish alternative to traditional solid cork leather.

Cork trees can be harvested once they reach 25 years old and then every 9-12 years, without causing any damage to the tree.

As materials, smooth cork and woven cork are:

  • Durable and long-lasting

  • Lightweight and flexible

  • Water-resistant and stain-resistant

  • Hypoallergenic and easy to clean

All these qualities make cork belts, whether smooth or woven, practical and stylish alternatives to leather.

Why is cork an eco-friendly material?

Cork is one of the most sustainable materials available, offering multiple environmental benefits:
  • Carbon Absorption: Cork oak trees absorb large amounts of CO₂, helping to reduce greenhouse gases. Harvesting cork increases the tree’s carbon absorption, making it even more eco-friendly.

  • Zero Waste Production: Every part of the cork tree is used—leftover cork is ground down and repurposed, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

  • No Deforestation: Cork trees are never cut down; only their bark is carefully removed, allowing the trees to live for up to 300 years.

  • Biodegradable & Recyclable: Unlike synthetic materials, cork decomposes naturally without harming the environment.

  • Water-Efficient Growth: Cork trees require no irrigation, pesticides, or chemical fertilisers, making them one of the most eco-conscious resources in fashion.

By choosing a sustainable cork belt, you're making a conscious decision to support ethical, environmentally responsible fashion.

What are the benefits of a cork belt?

Lightweight and Durable:

Despite its lightweight nature, cork bark leather is surprisingly durable and long-lasting. It possesses excellent resistance to abrasion, tearing, and moisture, making it an ideal material for crafting men's belts. The inherent strength of cork bark leather ensures that your belt will withstand everyday wear and tear, maintaining its shape and integrity for years.

Unique Aesthetic:

One of the standout features of cork bark leather is its distinctive and natural aesthetic. The material showcases a visually appealing pattern of small irregularities and variations, giving each piece a unique and individual character. This beauty adds a touch of sophistication to your belt, making it a great accessory in any ensemble.

Comfort and Flexibility:

Cork bark leather is exceptionally comfortable thanks to its flexibility and pliability. The material moulds to the contours of your waist, ensuring a comfortable fit throughout the day. Whether you're sitting, standing, or moving, the flexibility of cork bark leather allows for unrestricted movement and maximum comfort.

Hypoallergenic and Anti-Microbial:

Cork bark leather is an excellent choice for people with sensitive skin or allergies. It is naturally hypoallergenic, meaning it is unlikely to cause skin irritations. Additionally, cork bark leather has anti-microbial properties, inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi. This helps maintain a clean and hygienic belt, minimising odours and ensuring long-term freshness.

Eco-Conscious Fashion Statement:

By choosing a cork belt, you are making an eco-conscious fashion statement. Opting for a sustainable and cruelty-free material demonstrates your commitment to protecting the environment and supporting ethical practices. With the growing demand for eco-friendly fashion, a cork belt becomes a conversation starter, allowing you to inspire others with your sustainable lifestyle choices.

Versatile Styling Options:

Cork belts offer versatile styling options that can elevate your outfits. The natural earth tones and unique textures of cork bark leather complement a wide range of clothing styles, from casual jeans to formal trousers. Whether dressing up for a special occasion or adding a touch of sophistication to your everyday look, a cork leather belt effortlessly enhances your style.

How to measure for your belt

Find the right size for your new belt is easy with these simple steps:

1. Lay your belt flat – Place it on a smooth surface, ensuring it remains straight and untwisted.

2. Measure from the buckle to your most-used hole—Use a measuring tape to measure from where the buckle attaches to the belt (not the tip of the buckle) to the hole you use most often. This measurement determines your belt size.

3. Compare with our size chart – Check your measurement in inches or centimetres and match it to our size guide for the best fit.

4. Choosing the right size – For the best fit, your belt should have a couple of holes on either side of your most-used hole, allowing for easy adjustment. If your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size for added comfort and flexibility.
