About our collection

Our Award-Winning collection of next-generation ethically made mens bifold wallets are designed in the UK and crafted using traditional leather-working techniques in Europe. Our choice of materials are befitting of modern times, when we are all more conscious of the environment and the impact our choices have on the planet.

Wearing a vegan belt or other non-leather accessories is no longer just about animal welfare, it is about making an ethical, sustainable choice. Every wallet is made by people who are respected for their skill and paid a fair wage.

All bifold wallets are made with RFID protection as standard.

Our materials

Each bifold wallet is made with high-quality next-generation plant leather. The innovative material has a base layer made from non-food grade corn and the final material contains more than 30% plant material.

The corn used for the material is from a renewable source and carbon neutral. On the surface, a layer of PU provides benefits such as water, stain, and scratch resistance. Overall, this leather alternative is 3x more environmentally friendly than animal leather.

The lining we use has been made from 100%, post-consumer plastic bottles. It is soft and strong like polyester, but unlike virgin polyester, recycled PET fabric has a significantly lower impact on the environment. It uses 94% less water, 60% less energy and 32% less CO2 to manufacture.

Which wallet is best, bifold or trifold?

Our choice of wallet style comes down to personal preference. When comparing a bifold with a trifold it really comes down to capacity and the storage which is available in a trifold wallet vs the slim and minimalist style of the bifold wallet.

Bifold wallets are the front runners in terms of popularity but that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider a trifold if you carry lots of cards.

What is a bifold wallet?

Bifold wallets have two sections and since it’s folded only once, this is where the name comes from. Bifold wallets are perhaps the most used wallets as they offer the versatility of carrying cards and cash in a lightweight and slim design.

If you like to carry cash, a bifold is perfect for you. The design of the wallet allows you to carry notes without folding them, so they are easy added and removed.

Are bifold wallets slim?

We understand that the aesthetic of your wallet is as important as how it functions. Our materials are intentionally strong and lightweight, so we can craft slim, sleek and professional wallets. Slim, compact wallets reduce bulge in your shirt and trouser pockets, whilst making sure you can carry all your essential cards and cash.

When was the bifold wallet invented?

Accessories to carry important items and currency date back to ancient times, but prior to the introduction of paper currency in the late 1600’s, the most used item would have been a drawstring pouch to hold coins.

It was paper currency that prompted the design of the very first bifold wallet. In 1690, the simple folding design would have had a pocket for ID and the capacity for paper notes and bills.

The emergence of plastic payment cards during the 1950’s saw the humble bifold wallet undergo a shift in capacity and performance, as it was transformed into the style of wallet we see today, with a symmetrical design of equal card pockets on each side.

Designs continue to change as our use of coins, paper currency, cards and mobile payments evolves, but we expect the iconic bifold wallet to transcend change and be with us forever.

The most popular wallet style in the world

The bifold wallet is the wallet of choice for great number of people, making it the most popular style of wallet in the world.

This faithful design is the most traditional and well-known. In some areas of the world, it is referred to as the billfold, due to the notes or bills (the paper cash) being folded only once.

The bifold is popular due to the ease with which you can carry paper cash and a selected number of cards.

When choosing your next bifold wallet there are some key things to look for.

1. make sure it is slim and lightweight. Once you add cards and cash you do not want to have a bulky wallet.
2. RFID. This is pretty much a prerequisite these days so make sure you don't have to pay extra to have it.
3. when you get your new wallet, don't put everything from your old wallet into it. Be honest about what you use and take the opportunity to carry less. This will help reduce wear and tear on your new wallet and keep it looking great for much longer.
